YouTube Update
June 29, 2009
Well I’m seriously reconsidering the YouTube channel at this point. Currently my memory drive only holds 3 minutes of video at a time. So every time I shoot a little something; I have to go to the computer and take the video off the camera and then resume shooting. It took about 8 videos to edit down to 2 short videos. It was a little frustrating. And on top of that; getting YouTube views is a whole new avenue of marketing focus in and of itself.
It’s really frustrating actually. In developing your jewelry business; you spend more time in marketing then you do in designing. I’m starting to want to boycott all of these marketing avenues. Because at what point do I stop being a designer and start just being another internet marketer pushing a product?
I’m starting to feel as though I should just step back and hire a good marketing company when I can afford it. One truly sweet girl found my YouTube channel and snagged a free pair of earrings; but that was it. I sold the majority of the rest of the stuff on the video in brick and mortar venues.
For 48 hours of filming and editing; it was a bit frustrating. I’m starting to feel far away from the main thing that brought me here, designing jewelry. This is the reason for my business in the first place.
I mean flea markets and such are decent venues for jewelry sales; but, I honestly would like to put my business completely online or mail order if I could. I wish there was a real active online flea market. I know there’s Craigslist; but no one wants handmade jewelry on there. Just gold, silver and name brands. But, that’s the closest thing. Etsy to me is just too much marketing and not enough crafting to be successful. There seems to be nothing in between right now.
I’m still not completely decided yet; but I think what I’m leaning towards is just adding a store section to my standard website http://eurydicedesigns.tk/ and purchasing a marketing package from a company. I’m looking at a few right now. I’m also willing to start working with a seo marketer in a partnership basis. I build the store. The marketer markets the store and takes a certain percentage of all sales. So, if you’re reading this blog and know of someone who might be interested in a deal like this one let me know. If not; I just have to wait a few months until I’ve got money saved.
That’s it for today. Below you’ll find a picture of a bunch of jewelry I’m going to let go for $50. If anybody’s interested; it’s still available. Just send me a note! I’ll put it up on LiveSimon or my website so you can buy it. Thanks for reading!

Wow What a Day!
June 21, 2009
Today was my first day editing video. I’m definitely going to shoot differently next time to minimize this process. But now I know. In addition, hopefully soon I can afford to buy a larger memory stick so that I can record more than 3 minutes of video at a time. It will make it much easier. All in all though, the editing went pretty smoothly all things considered and I’m pleased with the final outcome. You guys really need to check out the YouTube site at http://www.youtube.com/icrave jewelry
I’ll be offering free gifts every week; so it’s first come first serve. The first one of you guys to bid one penny on the item takes it home. So get there first!
The Next Phase
June 18, 2009
It’s definitely been awhile since I posted. I guess I just didn’t quite know what I wanted to say with my blog. I wanted to introduce my jewelry to folks but, I was stuck financially unable to take good enough pictures of my pieces. I was also extremely overwhelmed by the amount of marketing it seemed I would have to do to get my designs seen by the public. I was doing a lot of research and trying to understand and tackle the ever-growing online marketing needs.
I was beginning to feel depressed because honestly it seemed that I’d be spending so much time marketing that I’d be doing more of that then designing jewelry and working on my music. That wasn’t my goal. So I had to take stock and re-evaluate what I wanted from my online selling experience and choose one or two things that I felt I could reasonably do while still being able to pursue my art full-time.
I’ve decided to create a YouTube channel for ICraveJewelry. Starting tomorrow I will be submitting a new video almost everyday. I will introduce newly created items for sale everyday and I will then place them for auction on LiveSimon.Com.
Each week I will be giving away free gifts on a random day. Since tomorrow is my YouTube channel launch I will be giving away 5 pairs of earrings. The first person to email me and request the earrings they saw that they liked will receive the earring free of charge as my gift to you. 2nd place winners will receive 20% off of any item they choose to buy. The discount is good for 1 year.
Everyday I will keep my blog readers tuned into what’s happening over at YouTube. I feel these are fun and rewarding ways to get the word out there about the jewelry I have available. I look forward to providing you with the jewelry of your dreams for yourselves or your loved ones.
Good Evening All!
May 30, 2009
I’m just sitting here watching the repeat of The Soup on E because I missed the beginning the first time it aired. Today I went to a local business to sell my jewelry creations. I made some sales and got a decent response. I decided to start blogging to share my love of jewelry creation with people that enjoy learning about and wearing original designs. I guess I’m dipping my toe into the internet superhighway. I mean I’ve learned web design and done a lot of browsing and reading and emailing; but, this is more personal. In addition, when I was designing websites marketing yourself on the internet wasn’t as hard as I feel it is today. With all the social networking and blogging added to keywords meta-tags, site design and on and on. Before it was just the keywords, meta-tags, a website, unique content and that’s it. Now there’s so much more to learn about to determine whether it is important for you.
All in all though, I think the internet has grown to be better and more interesting for us all so I hope this venture works out okay and proves fulfilling and beneficial to myself and others. God Bless and have a great night!
